Cheers, folks!
I'm proudly presenting:
"Modern Heavy Metal: Markets, Practices and Cultures"
International Academic Research Conference
Aalto University School of Business
HELSINKI, FINLAND
HELSINKI, FINLAND
June 8-12 2015 (tentative dates!)
The event will be hosted in collaboration with the International Society for Metal Music Studies (ISMMS), a newly established international and multi-disciplinary learned society for anyone interested in the academic study of heavy metal.
The Helsinki event follows the highly successful Heavy Metal and Popular Culture Conference, hosted by the Bowling Green State University, in Ohio U.S., in April 2013. During the Ohio Conference, an idea was presented to organise the next conference in Helsinki, one of the metal music capitals of the world. And here we go!

To organise the MHM conference, a research project is set to start in the Aalto University School of Business (IDBM Program). The project aims to generate new research on the various topics of popular music business and management. The particular focus is on heavy metal music, one of the biggest music genres in our country and the primary export article of Finnish music.
More information will be posted on this site as soon as more concrete things start to happen.
